The idea of being a great leader can seem like something reserved for spiritual, military, or corporate giants. Maybe it strikes you as lofty and out of reach for a normal guy. Maybe it strikes you as something you’ve failed miserably at and there’s no way to recover. None of that is true. God desires ALL men to be great leaders in whatever realms of responsibility He’s given us, no matter how seemingly insignificant and no matter how we may have failed before. So, what are the essential characteristics of a leader and how can we grow in this high calling?

We invite you to join us for our 2025 Men’s Retreat. Our speaker, Steve Thiel, will help us understand what makes a great leader and how the gospel of Jesus Christ is our hope and our strength.

Speaker

thielsSteve Thiel is a native of Wisconsin and has been a Packers fan since he was a kid.  In high school, he played football, basketball, baseball, and golf.  Steve then went on to Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri where graduated in 1999 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering.  The next transition took him out to Vermont to work for IBM, where he met several Christians who invited him to a men's event and then to church.  That's where Steve heard the gospel for the first time, was convicted of his sin, and turned to Christ in saving faith.  In 2013, he moved his family to Windsor, CT to plant Christ Proclamation Church, which is now a thriving congregation.  Steve loves talking to people about Jesus, preferably at the diner over a good cup of coffee.  He his wife Linda have four kids.
